October 23, 2011

So much for the weekly blog! This has been a busy week here in the Rogerson household. I got a text Monday night from Rachel that stated, "I am in the middle of a midterm and have a fever." The next morning Tony called her and she said she felt horrible. Tony told her to get to the doctor asap. She had an appt at 11:10 and was diagnosed with a raging tonsillitis. They gave her a prescription for an antibiotic. She went home and they called her back in about an hour later. They got her blood test back and her white count was 40,000, normal is 10,000. So she had to get two shots, one an antibiotic and the other a steroid shot because of the swelling in her throat. And thank goodness for drugs because she was feeling much better by that evening. Not a good time to be sick, during midterms. She loves UW-Madison and has made lots of new friends.

(yeah, I don't probably want to know what they are up to!)

Abby had a conference cross country meet last weekend and sectionals this weekend. Abby had a great race at conference, ran a 16:29 and it was WINDY. She got 11th overall which earned her a 2nd team all conference spot. First team is 1st - 8th place and second team is 9th -16th place. She didn't do so great at sectionals. She had a back ache and side ache and ended up with a 17:46 and the team got 8th out of 17 teams. Abby was consistently the #1 runner on the team this year, and I think the girls have a chance to do well next year if they keep in shape. Team morale has been much better this year than in previous years.

Here is the team: Mollie Bazley (SR), Molly Hlubek (SR), Alyssa Dale (FR), Nicole Witt (SO), Therese Hughes (SO), Kelley Baumann (FR) and ABBY!

Jack has been doing great. He absolutely dreaded starting school but is doing fine now. He likes his teacher. He is very thankful for the fabulous weather Mother Nature is bestowing upon us this fall. I convinced the boys to go to Minocqua with me the second weekend of October. We played golf at the Minocqua Country Club and the weather was PERFECT!

Last night Tony and I went to a YMCA fundraiser party with a Wild West theme. Tony went as "Woody" and I was a saloon girl. Needless to say, Tony got a lot of laughs and I won best female costume. Tony "wood" have won but for the fact that all his friends were watching the Badger football game in another room when the voting by applause took place. Angie was "roped" into riding the mechanical bull with her dress on. The emcee pulled me aside and said, "how much would you pay to see this girl ride the bull?" He then passed the hat around and collected $150 in cash. What's a girl to do? It was humiliating and liberating all at the same time! I had my "bloomers" in the car but Tony would not go get them for me (no way would they let me leave the room.) There was a "brief" embarrassing moment but oh well, it was for a good cause!

Here's Poppy's latest competition video, taken on 9/11/11. She now has two "Q's" in Novice Standard (needs one more for a title) and one "Q" in Jumpers and Weaves (needs 2 more for her title.) We are back taking group classes again and she's doing really well. You just need to copy and paste this link into your browser:

Looking forward to seeing all of you who can make it to Tony's 50th birthday bash next weekend.
